Talking Stage

Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: July 23, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of Talking Stage ("Talking Stage," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you use the Talking Stage mobile app, website, and related services (together, the "Service"). It also explains your choices and rights. Our Terms of Service also apply.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use Talking Stage, you may provide account details such as your email address, display name, and identifiers from Apple, Google, or another sign-in method; onboarding answers; age range, goals, preferences, and relationship context; profiles, names, pronouns, notes, memories, important dates, and other details about people in your life; lesson answers, saved insights, chat messages, practice conversations, feedback, and support communications; and a profile photo stored on your device.

You may also choose a contact to import, dictate your situation using the microphone and speech-recognition features, or select a screenshot for AI reply help. Do not provide sensitive information that is not needed, and do not provide another person's information, communications, or image unless you have the right to do so.

Information collected automatically

We and our service providers may collect account or installation identifiers; app version, device and operating-system information; coarse product events such as app launch, onboarding completion, subscription or restore outcomes, and feature interactions; crash reports, performance traces, error logs, and security signals; and approximate network information such as IP address. Our app analytics are designed not to include names, notes, chat or practice text, screenshots, or other relationship content. We do not enable session replay in the app.

Apple and our subscription providers receive purchase, subscription, and entitlement information needed to process and restore purchases. We do not receive your full payment-card number for Apple in-app purchases.

Device permissions and optional sources

With your permission, Talking Stage may access the microphone and Apple's speech-recognition service to transcribe words you intentionally dictate; a contact you intentionally select; your approximate or precise location while using the app to find nearby places or date ideas; your calendar to add and synchronize dates you choose; notifications to send reminders; and an image you select through Apple's photo picker. These permissions are optional. You can deny or revoke them in your device settings, although the related feature may then be unavailable.

Talking Stage does not continuously record, transcribe, or monitor your conversations. Audio capture starts only when you activate the dictation feature and ends when you stop it. A selected screenshot is downscaled and sent for the AI request; the app does not upload your photo library or send the screenshot to product analytics.

How AI features use information

When you request AI coaching, practice, lesson grading, memory extraction, date or shopping ideas, or screenshot-based reply help, the request may include what you type or attach and relevant saved profile context, notes, memories, goals, relationship stage, or prior conversation context. Our Supabase backend assembles the relevant context and sends it to OpenAI to generate the requested output. OpenAI acts as an AI service provider for these features.

We may store your AI inputs, generated responses, practice sessions, memory references, and conversation summaries in your account so the experience can work across sessions, remain contextual, support export and deletion, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. A screenshot selected for a request is sent to the AI service for that request; Talking Stage does not save the uploaded screenshot itself to its database. Generated-image URLs and the related prompt may be stored when you request an image.

We do not use relationship content for targeted advertising. We do not authorize OpenAI to use API content to train its general models. AI providers may temporarily retain and process request data for safety, abuse prevention, and service operation under their applicable business terms and legal obligations.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; authenticate users; provide, personalize, synchronize, and maintain the app; generate the AI output you request; save profiles, progress, lessons, notes, memories, chats, and practice sessions; provide location-based ideas, reminders, calendar entries, data export, and deletion tools; process and restore subscriptions; communicate with you; provide support; measure feature performance; diagnose crashes and outages; enforce our Terms; prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; comply with law; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our contract with you, based on your consent, for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent for optional permissions at any time, but withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.

Service providers and disclosures

We disclose only the information reasonably needed for providers to perform services for us. Providers may include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and server functions; OpenAI for AI generation; Apple and Google for sign-in and device services; Apple StoreKit and Superwall for subscriptions and paywalls; PostHog and Amplitude for privacy-filtered product analytics; Sentry for crash, error, and performance diagnostics; and hosting, email, security, and customer-support providers.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect users, other people, our rights, or the security of the service; investigate fraud or abuse; or complete a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets. A successor may use the information only as described in this Policy unless it provides notice and obtains any consent required by law.

We require providers that process personal information for us to protect it consistently with this Policy and applicable law. Providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States, where privacy laws may differ. Where required, we use legally recognized transfer safeguards.

Sale, sharing, advertising, and tracking

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use relationship content or AI conversations to serve targeted ads. Talking Stage does not currently use third-party advertising SDKs or Apple's App Tracking Transparency identifier for tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

Because we do not engage in those activities, a browser's Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal does not change how the app operates. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any legally required choice before using information in the new way.

Retention and deletion

We retain account information and user content while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service. Specific records may be kept longer when necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backups, financial or transaction records, enforcement of agreements, or legal obligations. Retention periods depend on the record's purpose, sensitivity, and applicable requirements. De-identified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained.

You can remove individual notes, memories, profiles, chats, saved details, or other supported content in the app. Account deletion is designed to delete or de-identify account-linked server records and clear app data, subject to limited legal, security, transaction, and backup exceptions. Deletion may not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions must be managed separately in your Apple account. Residual backup copies may remain for a limited period until overwritten and are not used for ordinary product purposes.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated server requests, access controls, encryption in transit, row-level database security, provider-secret isolation, input limits, and rate limiting. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, accessed, or disclosed without authorization. Keep your device and sign-in credentials secure and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know about, access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information; withdraw consent; or appeal a denied request. You may also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising a privacy right. We may verify your identity and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including to protect another person's privacy.

You can exercise many rights through Settings and the in-app export and deletion controls. You may also use the request links below or email us. An authorized agent may submit a request where local law permits, but we may require proof of authorization and identity. You may complain to your local data-protection authority.

Age limits

Talking Stage is intended only for people age 17 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a person under 17 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as our service or legal obligations change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the app or by another appropriate method when required. Material changes apply prospectively unless the law permits otherwise.

Delete your entire account at talkingstageapp.com/delete-account, request removal of specific data at talkingstageapp.com/delete-data, or contact us at hello@talkingstageapp.com.
