Dating mindset
How long should the talking stage last?
People want a number. Reality is messier: the talking stage should last long enough to feel safe meeting, and short enough that momentum does not evaporate into endless texting.
Days to a couple of weeks is common, not a rule
If both people are local and interested, moving toward a low-pressure hangout within a week or two often works. Long-distance, busy schedules, or cautious pacing can stretch that without being a red flag.
Watch consistency more than the calendar
Steady replies, curiosity, and clear interest matter more than hitting day seven. Hot-and-cold contact for a month is a different signal than warm, busy-but-intentional pacing.
Make a clear invite
If you want to meet, ask. Vague “we should hang sometime” keeps both people stuck. A specific plan based on what they enjoy is kinder and clearer.
